In Russia, unlike European countries, the spread of “green roofs” is quite slow. As a rule, some copies can be found in Moscow or in other megacities. And then, these are usually not residential buildings, but trading floors and parking lots located underground. It is worth noting that the green roof as an element of landscape design play an important role in the exterior of the house.
Such results are explained, first of all, by the fact that there are no specialists at the moment, there is no support from the municipal organs. In fact, the creation of a “green roof” does not require excessive financial and labor costs, there would be an example, they would have reached it.
The device of the “green roof” consists in adding a fertile layer of soil on top of the existing roof. At the same time, the roof garden is not a “green roof” at all. In the first case, tubs with plants are simply placed on the roof surface, and in the second, special plants, substrate, drainage system are required. In some cases, the soil can be replaced by a special fabric (for example, filtering or landscape), in which plant roots are already placed.
Depending on the desired thickness of the vegetation and the cost of the design of the “green roof”, two of its types are distinguished: extensive and intense “green roofs”.
